Chennai Super Kings is an Indian Premier League cricket team headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu (IPL). With an estimated value of 732 crores in 2019, they are one of the most valuable franchises in the IPL. It was formed in 2008, when the Indian Premier League (IPL) began. It is one of the most successful cricket team in terms of winning trophy in IPL They have the most appearances in the IPL playoffs (ten) and have participated in the playoffs in each of the league’s seasons, making them the only team to do so.

Overview

On September 4, 2017, the IPL reached a huge milestone when Star TV was awarded the media rights for the five-year term (2018-2022) for a staggering Rs. 16,347.50 crores. Franchises will get 50% of the above sum after deducting production expenses incurred during the season as a result of these rights throughout the next 5-year term. For the same term, the league also secured a big title agreement with VIVO worth Rs. 2199 crore. (From 2018 until 2022).
 The BCCI-IPL pays franchises approximately Rs 1000 crore in central revenue over the next five years as a result of a mix of sponsorship and media rights. Franchisees must, however, share 20% of their profits with BCCI.

The decrease in total revenue and profit for the fiscal year 2019-20 compared to the previous year was mostly due to lower income from the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s grant of central rights (BCCI). CSK’s revenue streams were impacted because the IPL competition was cancelled in 2020 owing to the Covid epidemic. As a result, the PAT has decreased from 110 crores to 50 crores. Mutual funds lowered their holdings from 10808230 to 3078949 shares in FY19-20. Banks and insurance companies boosted their stakes from 775406 and 21918038 to 775456 and 22068038, respectively, in the fiscal year FY19-20.
